First and foremost, this is good book for what it says, “Case Interviews” but it wasn’t what I had in mind when I got it. I would have liked it to be broader in the work field and more helpful in different types of job interviews. With all that being said, it does give you some helpful tips and hints that can be used in all aspects of interviewing for a job. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to go into Management Consulting or who is looking to change positions in the company they are in now. This is an excellent book for people who know that they have to face a case interview, are looking for a new job, and need some practice in learning about mock interview techniques. I think this is an excellent read! It is a book full of great advice! I like the cases presented as they cover a multitude of different fields of work, and can give a candidate a good exposure to existing issues. A lot of the times books like these will seem just a lot of fluff, but it is not true in this case. It seems to be a well-researched book, with lots of real life examples. Well to be honest I couldn't read it all at once! I got bored of it but... I am also not looking for this type of job. With that being said This book is great for that management position your trying to go for. And you must not be too sure of the position if you are considering this book at all. This book comes in very detailed information for your every move so you can be very prepared for that job position. I hope this was somewhat helpful! I wasn't familiar with a case interview prior to reading this book, but now I feel like I'm better prepared for one if needed. Beyond the case interview, I think this book gives some good building blocks on how to solve problems (after all that's what consulting is, right?). I've seen and used many of these frameworks professionally without knowing them, specifically the internal/external framework. I've picked up a few more that I think will be useful as well. I found this book very interesting and useful.Interesting, because it follows the unstructured/structured approach to Case Interview, in the line of Victor Cheng book, but more specific to actual cases that firms are using today.Useful, because it contain 9 full cases that can be used to practice with a partner, or on your on. The simulations described in the cases, are very useful to understand the dynamics of the case interview, and how to apply frameworks to difficult cases.There is room from improvement? Sure there is!, but it is a great tool, that I used intensively for my Consultant interview at BCG.I am looking forward to see if there is a new release of this book.

The best thing about this book is the title. It tricks you into thinking 20 days is shorter than60 hours, the amount of time experts like Cosentino (Case in Point) and Ohrvall (MBA Case) sayis typical to prepare. The structures are the profit and loss formula and internal and external.Minimum number of practice cases. This book is for high school students. A total waste of mytime. Why does every former consultant think they’re an expert?

Just purchased and am SO disappointed. The Kindle version is a measly 19 pages of photo and text. Sad to say, this is not my first experience with this happening -- the Kindle version being different from the print text WITHOUT any disclaimers or notice of such … Amazon REALLY needs to improve their translation of "picture" books into kindle books.... As a school counselor, I often want to project the books onto the white board in class lessons so all little eyes can see, as well as help keep elementary students engaged.... It's such a disappointment when it doesn't translate well or fully....and you cannot tell when amazon includes the copyright pages in their "preview." (Intentionally deceitful?) I yet again went ahead and purchased, in hopes of honesty...and feel taken. Would expect better from amazon. Waste of time and money.

A very cute little book. I can't stay sad or blue after reading this book. The photos are 'spot on perfect' and there are so many photos. The captions for the photos are perfect. When I'm having a difficult day, reading this book with some quiet music and prayer time....and my life has a turn-around and I'm able to face any and all challenges.

Simple read yet perfect too have displayed on bookshelf for those not-so-great days. I teach high school students so when I see a kid having a hard day, I set this down near him/her. It is a quick read with excellent photos and guaranteed to make you smile!

I always have a few of these books on hand and find them the perfect thing to let someone know you are thinking of them when they are down. I find it a nice change from traditional cards. Feedback from those that have received these have appreciated the pictures and comments. Brought a smile in tough times. Several of them have taken the same approach by paying it forward with the same gesture.

I no like this one. If your down and out and need to get some tears out maybe this would be a good one. Otherwise it is depressing.

Greive has produced a cute little book that encourages the reader to make it through those inevitable and sometimes too-common blue days.The book is about 90 pages long with a picture of an animal (often a funny-looking picture) with a caption mentioning either one of life's struggles or maintaining an optimistic point of view.The book is good for a quick pick-me-up and some good laughs, even if some of the phrases are trite. While sometimes all we need is a quick change in our attitude to make things better, I would look to other titles for deeper issues.Read and enjoy!

About the Author

Nominated for a Neustadt award and the Man Booker International Prize, César Aira was born in Coronel Pringles, Argentina, in 1949. He has published at least ninety books and was most recently the creator and curator of a limited edition art piece, “Valise,” for the MoMA, NYC. The poet Chris Andrews teaches at the University of Western Sydney, Australia, where he is a member of the Writing and Society Research Centre. An author of some stature, renown for writing dozens of short novellas in a contemporary style, is turning fifty. Although his birthday passes largely without notice, he nevertheless stops to take stock of what exactly that milestone means. However, rather than look backward to reflect on his myriad accomplishments and disappointments, he instead looks forward to ruminate on where the rest of his life and career might be headed. After all, this approach is consistent with the “flight-forward” method he has popularized in his fiction, whereby he refrains from using today’s writing time to revise yesterday’s work, but rather improvises his way around any narrative problems he has created for himself.Birthday is the result of that self-reflection. Falling somewhere between a memoir and a philosophical treatise, the book consists of ten brief essays in which Aira expounds on a series of topics that appear to have been on his mind at the time. He begins with a story about his misunderstanding of how phases of the moon happen and uses that as a metaphor for everything else in his life that he has not figured out. In subsequent essays, he offers his observations on many other topics, such as the possibility of an after-life, various processes and styles for creating fiction, the literary challenges of predicting the future, what makes each reader unique, the difficulty of translating work from other cultures, the omnibus “Encyclopedia” project he has yet to begin, and how the production of literature and mathematics differ.To be sure, some of these musings were interesting and thought-provoking. More often, though, the work came off as a hurriedly constructed series of random thoughts that were, at best, loosely connected to one another and very specific to the author’s personal experiences. However, the real problem I had was trying to answer the question: Why exactly am I reading this book? I suspect that if I was more familiar with Aira’s fictional catalog, these essays might have given me some great insights into his writing method and his message. Unfortunately, that was not the case and so anything that was special about this collection was mostly lost on me. I am afraid that might also be true for any other potential reader who is not already a fan of the author.

At times it theorizes healing methodolgies and suggestions to help expand your thinking in certain directions. It also provides meditations to expand your awareness. Overall, the book provides: Information, Reflection (questions to ask self and ponder), Exploration (exercise/practice/meditation), Definition, and Detailed explanation of cells.The preface begins with a quote from Albert Einstein, "Everyone who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the universe - a spirit vastly superior to that of man."In this forward thinking and thought-provoking 2013 book, Sondra views the body's inner intelligence with both the eyes of a scientist and the heart of a shaman. Her 360 degree approach to acknowledge there is more to life than science and "proof" of everything is a refreshing walkabout from the skeptic's view of double-blind studies only. Based on her training, experience, research, studies, Sondra takes you from her once scientific only beliefs to her expanded knowledge base to include the effects of the mind and heart on healing. Her own scientific mind was amazed when she first noticed the potential of the mind in wellness, including delays, remissions, and cures. The more she experienced, the more she widened her perspective on healing.Sondra provides 209 pages of information, + a 9 page appendix (personal energy mapping graph and 8 pages of helpful Qigong movements), + 6 pages of reference notes + 26 pages of reference material/books, + 4 pages of suggested reading, + a 17 page index, + the author page. Throughout the book, she references various studies for those of you who are looking for the scientific explanations.Her left-brained credentials: She has a degree in biochemistry from the University of Illinois Medical School, post-doctorial training in immunology and hematology at the University of California Medical School. She continued on the faculty at the latter school for over 10 years. She also worked with children with life-threatening illnesses while developing basic cancer research and supportive care.Her right-brained credentials: She studied expressive arts, alternative energy practices, and shamanism. She also won awards for some of her special photography (photo micrograms). She does publications, presentations, workshops, and lectures.As a Reiki Master, I found this book inspirational, to say the least, that a well educated and experienced scientist sees the connection. Once I saw the cell's architecture (p. 19), I was better able to see it in the mind's eye. I felt compelled to meditate on my billions of cells and just thank them for all they have provided throughout my life, keeping me healthy, fending off illness, etc. I was truly amazed at the intense feeling that I was floating in peace and love, that I experienced almost immediately. That was all the proof I needed to know that my cells "heard" me and appreciated the acknowledgement.BTW - I also bought a copy of this book for an engineer-minded, "double-blind study" thinking, doubting-Thomas friend whom I call Mr. Spock. I hope this book helps him to see the Light :)

Good book about one biochemist's open-mindedness, creativity and spiritual growth over the years. Dr. Barrett introduces some interesting studies related to our cells, such as Dr. James Pennebaker's (UT-Austen) work on the cells and confession (journaling). She also mentions the pioneering breakthrough work of Dr. Bruce Lipton on cells. She gives some reliable scientific info about our cells which I liked. Was not enthralled with the writing style--the book is a bit dry, but there is certainly good information. It made me appreciate and understand the lessons in the Rosicrucian Monographs (AMORC) at a deeper level. Frankly, there is a lot more helpful information fairly early in the Degrees of the AMORC Monographs on the cells and many other spiritual topics.

For people who seek to be explore their mystical side with someone who cherishes the amazing progress science has made and is an exponent of the scientific method, and yet do so in an engaging rather than pedantic manner, Secret of your Cells (SOYC) is a gem. And more so because published researchers at the intersection of these three conditions are as yet so few. Barrett succeeds in interleaving science with the mystical and in demonstrating different, equally compelling, and oddly-reinforcing perspectives on the same reality. She is a better scientist and shaman than a writer in the sense that one feels her obviously prodigious corpus of knowledge and personal experience could have been utilized and articulated better. Nevertheless, as part of a minuscule vanguard highlighting the advent of a bio-centric century -- people like Michio Kaku and Robert Lanza -- she deserves special applause. In SOYC, you will obtain some fascinating insights into the community of trillions of cells that constitute your body and will learn scientific research-backed meditation techniques that enable one to experience joy and heal sickness in oneself and others.

This book will open your eyes to the beauty and sacredness of your body, especially the cells. In beautiful, almost poetic, language and a scientist's eye, Sondra has written a book we would all be better for reading. It isn't just about our body intelligence, but the exquisite detail of it's structure. I will never, ever look at myself the same way. The gratitude for the artistic forms that live inside (and on our surface) knows no bounds. Those who think of their cells as ho-hum, or even in the case of disease as the enemy, will have to do a complete about face and bow down in reverence to what can only be the creation of the supreme intelligence. As you can tell, I highly, highly recommend this book. The author includes a myriad of different ways to get in touch with what lives in and as us.

"Secrets of Your Cells" by Dr. Sondra Barret is a beautiful, enlightening, and "scientific" book on the mystical, spiritual dimensions and properties of our body's cells. Dr. Barret very clearly and concisely puts into words what many authors have been attempting to do for decades, namely, to describe and elucidate in an easy-to-grasp manner a very complex and scientific subject to the "normal" layperson who may interested in understanding the inter-relationship between hardcore Science and Spirituality. Thank you Dr. Barret for writing such a enlightening, heart-felt, scientific book. I thoroughly enjoyed the read!

Glad I could learn so much about cells by reading this book!The most important lesson was how each cell might carry knowledge that the brain has stored. However, I have learned many other surprising facts and theories and am so glad I read this book. It was slow-going at first, not like an easy to read novel. However, I kept with it. So glad I did. The reading of it got so much easier as I got into it.It has changed my life in one way. I now want to take care of my cells by giving them less stress and to slow down a bit to help them relax.
