This is one of the most beautiful cookbooks to add to my collection from great chefs. Mary Ann Esposito writes about Italy and her experiences there, plus has such recipes that are mouth-watering. The illustrations are those that have a way of bringing smiles of delight to the reader with each page that is turned, and makes even the novice cook want to delve right in. I highly recommend this book of marvelous wonders. Thank you, Mary Ann!

I have all of Mary Ann Espositos cook books. One of the last things I did with my Mom was watch one of the Ciao Italia shows together. A few months later I met Mary Ann and I shared my story with her. When she autograph my book she wrote. "Cook like your Mom she is watching"

As always - the receipts are easy to follow and great to eat! Entire family loves her receipts. No need to eat out when I can open this cookbook and learn to cook the real thing!

What always comes to mind when I think of really good Italian food is “simple”. Good ingredients treated simply, but well. Yes, there are more complex, harder dishes in Italian cuisine, but I love the simplicity of much of their food. Ciao Italia embodies that. When I first got the book, I was flipping through it with my daughters and a friend. It was non stop exclamations, oohs and aahs and “when are you making that?!” Expectations were high, so I dove in.This brings me back to simplicity. I started with Gratin di Pomodoro (Tomato Gratin). Three main ingredients (seasonings and oil take it to 9) come together to form a culinary delight. I’ve made it twice already and am sure to make it again. I will say, don’t fudge on the bread. I didn’t have ciabatta bread the second time, so just used a basic “Italian” bread from the store. Nope. It soaks up too much juice and gets soggy, so you lose the nice crunchiness from the bread. Stick with ciabatta. It’s great!!Speaking of bread, I love it. Just about any kind you can come up with I will love. Because of this, I went with Focaccia al Rosmarino, Pepe Nero e Aglio (Focaccia with Rosemary, Black Pepper and Garlic) next. Delicious! I messed it up a little as I got distracted and forgot that I had a THIN focaccia in the oven (I had been making a thicker version), so I overcooked it a bit. It was still delicious.You can find a multitude of recipes, simple to complex, in this book sure to delight Italian food lovers everywhere. From Arancine Siciliana, a personal favorite, to Beef Stew with Polenta, Tuscan Bean Salad with Soppressata and even a Deconstructed Cannoli, this book is a passport to Italy. Dive in and experience the wonders of this lovely cuisine.I received a copy of this book from Peter E. Randall Publishers through the Lisa Ekus Group for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have just set up a 45 gallon aquarium, and I followed this book as I went along - I now have a beautiful aquarium, with healthy fish! I have tried the aquarium hobby in the past, but never successful as this this. If you are a beginner, this is the book to buy. Here's why: very clear instructions and explanations, without over-doing the science speech, and yet remains comprehensive. There are beautiful full color photos with each step of the set-up. For one example, I bought a piece of bogwood from a local fish dealer, they did not tell me to soak the wood first. But I followed the pictures and instructions in this book, and I ended up with a beautiful piece of bogwood/aquascape that did not turn my aquarium water brown. Beautiful! I do have other books for beginning a tropical aquarium, but this is the one I only really needed. I absolutely love the photos of each step. The author explains something, and there's a full color photo to illustrate it. I'm a visual learner so this was perfect for me.If you want to learn about plants, the author goes into great detail needed to plant a beautiful aquarium, and keep the plants healthy. There are many photos and information of plants you can add to your aquarium.The author describes (in easy to read) step-by-step how to set up the aquarium, and also how to maintain it, keeping it beautiful for your fish and plants.Again, those lovely photos each step of the way!This is not a fish reference guide, although the book does give detailed information on what fish to buy first, second, and third. More gorgeous photos.In my opinion, this is the book to buy if you are setting up a new tropical aquarium.In short - the book is easy to read, comphrensive, with beautiful photos each step of the way. Perfect!

This reference book provides a sequence of events from beginning to build your aquarium with the end result of producing and maintaining an attractive and healthy tank environment for the fish you put in it. It is abundant with pictures. It discusses many species of fish and lets you know which can get along together in your community tank. It explains how to be creative in building your aquarium with wood, rocks and plants. There are also sections on plants, filtration options, lighting and cleaning. It is a wonderful book for anyone who takes their hobby seriously. It is very informative and provides a wealth of information. It is not difficult to review this book; it is wonderful. It covers so many areas that it is impractical to list them all here. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to take the time to create a unique tropical aquarium and learn alot in the process.

Although the book is several years old, the content was up to date enough, and well rounded in all the aspects of setting up an aquarium, from an excellent explanation of cycling, complete with easy to understand charts and time tables, to grooming live plants and adding fish in three different time frames so the water chemistry could keep up. The photos are abundant and clearly show what the author is writing about. There are sections with photos on many common aquarium plants for background, center and foreground. The fish section is replete with names,area of tank that each prefer, numbers of fish for schooling properly,hints on food preferences and beautiful pictures. There is much, much more but I will tell you that I bought five books on setting up and caring for an aquarium , and this is the one I have just about worn out, bookmarking, underlining and turning to again and again.

Follow these directions for foolproof aquarium setups! Especially with novices like me! Having had family aquariums in the 60s or 70s - THINGS HAVE REALLY CHANGED in the aquarium industry...no more "NEW TANK SYNDROME" where all your fishes died in a short period of time...NOW you will know why that happened a long time ago and what you can do about it now. I am using this book as my guide to fishless cycling and plant selections...with recommendations...step-by-step...take the guesswork out of how not to lose fishes and make the best decisions upfront! LOVE LOVE LOVE this book!

This is a great book covering everything one needs to know about setting up and maintaining a tropical aquarium. Excellent illustrations and easy to follow step by step instructions starting day one right on through twelve weeks week to week. I highly recommend this book for those thinking about starting an aquarium, those who have just started, and those who have been doing so for less than two years. It really does cover all the bases.

After a ten year break I decided to get back into aquarium keeping. I knew the basics but I was a little rusty on all the details. This book was a perfect refresher course on all of the intricacies of keeping a tropical aquarium - and I learnt a ton of new stuff too. I am setting up a 10 gallon quarantine tank (in my office) and a 29 gallon display tank (in the living room). I have followed this book page by page and a few weeks later my tanks are ready to accept fish - yes, I'm going shopping this weekend!The author covers every aspect of setting up a new tank. Filters, lighting, substrate, food, you name it - it's all here. The explanation about the critical subject of water chemistry is the best I've read anywhere. There's also a ton of info about plants if you want to get into that side of things. He then goes on to recommend the most appropriate kinds of fish for each stage in the development of your new aquarium - all great information from someone who clearly knows what he's talking about.The book itself is full color, with lots of graphs and charts to hold your interest. The photographs are excellent.So, all in all, a great reference for the beginner. Highly recommended. Glad I bought it.[And, no, I'm not the author's close friend or business associate!]

He is currently serving on the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of Aurora University, as a member of the Board of Directors of Castle BancGroup Inc., and as Treasurer and Director of Valley West Community Hospital. Jerry J. Weygandt, PhD, CPA, is Arthur Andersen Alumni Professor of Accounting at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He holds a Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Illinois. I adore Accounting, yet was struggling with a few concepts. I purchased this Survival Guide to assist with my struggles while studying the main Wiley Book. My instructor is often unavailable, and there are no dependable student resource center at my college. The main Wiley Book was sometimes confusing and its' illustrations were too simple when compared to the complex and often advanced Problem Questions. I was desperate. I had expected this Survival Guide to hold the answers to the Problem Questions in the main Wiley Book. This was most definitely not a Solution Manual.However, I wasn't looking for a Solution Manual, I was seeking an Instruction Manual. This fits perfectly. This Survival Guide provided its' own Problem Questions, and then, supplied the answer. Each page is packed with information, flows continuously. It offers brief introduction to concepts, provides tips, lists the Problem Questions and quickly provides the solution, the solution is often accompanied with concept training, decision making, and math detail. And as a plus, each chapter has a practice test with MC questions with immediate answers.This is an excellent source for the person who isn't just after the grade, but truly desires a practical understanding of Accounting concepts and practical math skills to obtain the results.

Best accounting book out there. I borrowed this in college but now I really want something to refresh my accounting skills to prep for CPA and this is the go to book. This book is huge and it is heavy and that means a lot of concepts and theories and that is why it is like the bible of accounting.The pricing is ridiculous when you buy it new, just get the cheapest one if you like but to catch up in the recent cases simply go to your school library to get up to date. No biggie. Almost everything is the same, and if you know how book publishes work than you know not to buy books new. I would say scam but I might get sued . Oops.Overall, great book to use as reference as well as catching up your learning of accounting. Price was good when I bought it used and just buy it already if you are going for the CPA.

All accounting and survival non-accounting majors: this book is a perfect accompaniment to main textbook. It is an instructional manual on how to solve simple and increasingly complex problems. It gives line by line instruction on how to solve acctg questions. I call this book a must!! Especially in the common absence of good education/instructors, in which only simple scenarios provided, and no q&a time provided. Education must be had though, and self-study, patient review in a quiet room will serve you well. Will prove 100% effective in training for CPA exams well, and most definitely improve your confidence/grade/skill.

Every student rightfully complains about publishers coming out with a new edition of a textbook more often than seems reasonable (or possible). Taking Intermediate Accounting this semester and had to purchase the access code for WileyPlus, which comes with the e-textbook. Great. I don't have to buy one. But.... there is no search or index feature in the e-textbook AND they don't make it easy to flip back and forth between pages/sections. In what they call the "frontal material" there is a list of changes in this new and improved edition. Soooo, buy the previous edition for a fraction of the price and you'll have substantially the information in the new edition! Use as a companion for the e-textbook and you've got it all.Now, a word of warning... these authors assume a level of prior knowledge and clairvoyance which you may or may not possess. This book is filled with information, but does not get high marks for speaking plainly. How to get through the classes? Buy or rent a print copy of the textbook, buy or rent the study guides and the problem solving survival guides. Until you know this stuff cold, you're just doing bookkeeping.

The textbooks by Kieso,, Kimmel, and Weygandt are filled with information. The problem is they assume students have a level of prior knowledge and some clairvoyant ability which, for me, has gone dormant while carrying a 20-unit course load. If you're instructor is using WileyPlus to have you submit work online, don't expect to find a search tool or textbook index on WileyPlus. Moreover, don't expect to find detailed explanations of how they arrived at the solutions to the exercises. They aren't there. This book does not duplicate the exercises (check out the Problem Solving Survival Guide for that), but it does give you 1) a brief synopsis of principles, concepts, definitions, and other 'gotta remember that' stuff, as well as lots of practice questions/exercises and, not just the answers, but the thought process and methodology to get those answers. If you can resist the temptation to scribble in the book, check above to see if Amazon/Apex Media has rentals available. :D

Love the loose leaf style of this book. It makes it so much easier to work with than the bound text. You can just take the chapters with you that your are currently studying and leave the rest at home for reference later. Only warning I can give (and it has nothing to do with the seller, they were great to work with) is that the self tests on the publisher's website contain errors. Some of them do not have a correct answer to the question (they are true/false and multiple choice). A couple of them had a correct answer to choose from, but when the test was corrected on-line you were marked as incorrect, but the answer that they listed was the answer that you had indicated. It was not exactly what I thought it was going to be, albeit the text and illustrations do a reasonably fair representation. I believe it is a good beginner book as well as an intermediate level, especially for someone who knows very little about perspective. There are many facets of perspective the author does not address while addressesing eleven particular problems relative to drawing. He has introduced a painterly element with perspective which I found to be nice but not particularly important to me. Painters of acrylic, oil, watercolor and colored pencil will find helpful I think. This book will not fulfill my need and want but it is clearly one of the better books on perspective. Although I have given this book five stars I do not believe it answer all the questions or elements of perspective. It is a paperback and slick paper. I have to caution on recommending the book. I would add pictures but it would take far to many and would lead into something of a beast.

I'm a beginning drawing student at The Drawing Studio in Tucson, Arizona. I'm working primarily in graphite pencil and charcoal at this stage. No colors yet.I bought this book expecting it to explain 1 point, 2 point and multi-point perspective. It does this quite well. It also explains the use of reflections, shading, shadows and several more techniques to give your drawings depth.The examples are clear and concise. The illustrations are well labeled and well thought out.Although I'm working in black mediums at the present, even the color sections have much to aid me. I'm sure it will be a reference for a long time to come.It is very seldom I find a book that delivers much more than expected but this one does.

This is a great book that can help any painter or drawer improve their skills. The author, Phil Metzger, has a gentle and encouraging style. He'll explain the general concepts and then make clear that the artist can break the rules--it's art, after all. He turns rules into "make sense to me" ideas that will probably last in my mind longer than a list of hard rules. There are some exercises to try and plenty of examples. This will be a part of my permanent library.

Went back to drawing and I now I can actually draw and make art that looks right. Ever draw something and it just looked off? I learnt more about color theory in this book than all others put together because I now "Understand" the concept.While this book is for the textile artist, ALL artists should get it and is also has cut outs to use when choosing your colour palette whether it be for Fashion Design or Art.

It has been decades since I've been doing pencil drawings. One of the blessings of retirement is having a bit more time. I am relearning lessons from childhood, but was troubled with drawing distant objects in proper scale. This book is incredible! It is clearly written, well illustrated, and organized in a manner which makes it one of those books I will refer to repeatedly.Mr. Metzger is as good a teacher as he is an artist. I appreciate his reviewing how the medium used, the color values and relative warmth, as well as clear vs fuzzy edges are all important in showing perspective.As a former high school science teacher, I appreciate the way he illustrates how light behaves in various situations. His illustrations with shapes, angles, and distance are extremely helpful. I just received the book today, and can't wait to get sketching! The book is worth every penny, it speaks to novice and developed artists equally. Enjoy!

This book is incredible. I highly recommend it.The writing is detailed, clear and simple. The accompanying photographs, line drawings, sketches and paintings are numerous and clearly show what is being discussed.The discussion is comprehensive but written in a way to make the subject clear without unnecessary clutter.The author starts with "Natural Perspective" including the elements of size, spacing, tone, value, color, overlapping, placement, etc., then moves on to the rules of Linear Perspective.I have a burgeoning collection of art, drawing, sketching and painting books and this ranks at the very top.The discussion of Natural Perpective in the first several chapters is - by itself - worth the cost of the book.I can't recommend this highly enough !!!!!So many books fall far short of their promises. This one delivers.

I have been using this book since I rec'd it. I had purchased this book at the same time as his other book,"Perspective Without Pain", however, I find this book more useful, instructive. It has examples and step-by-step information. He also shows how to use perspective in several different forms of media, which is awesome! Other books that I have on perspective, limit it to drawing, where as he steps up and includes examples and instructions in painting and others as well. I would highly recommend this book for anyone, whether they are a student, teacher, or a professional looking to freshen up their skills.

I really enjoy browsing through this book. I have learned new techniques just by reading here and there. The illustrations are rich and motivate you to try to achieve the same results in your work. I wouldn't consider this material suitable for true beginners although I believe we can all benefit from it. The book is not a compilation of magical steps to incredible art, but a guide to better understanding of what you are doing and how to improve upon it.

I love the "Who Was" and "Who Is" collection for my nine year old son. They are so informative and my child reads them before bed every night. This book, however, I would not purchase UNLESS you feel comfortable having to explain to your child why on earth there is a section in this book explaining that our most beloved childhood author had an interest in naked lady books. What are you thinking with this book? Who is the audience? Adults????? Obviously this is a book for kids. Why is this detail included? Why is no thought given to preserving the innocence of our children? Now, I had to spend ten minutes explaining this to my son and it is something he will never get out of his head. What a disappointment and complete lack of judgement by everyone involved in creating this book.

I wish this series had been around when I was a kid! So far, I have purchased Jim Henson, Dr. Seuss, George Lucas, The Beatles and Walt Disney for my son. These books are a great way for me to introduce the people who have always inspired me, to my own children. I believe that reading about different creative talents throughout history is not only a great way for kids to learn but also a great way to inspire them. We always have great conversations when we discuss the people from these books because we teach each other new things.

Read this book with with my eight year old daughter. Learned some fascinating facts about Dr. Seuss and really enjoyed the book.

The entire series of big head books is excellent. I find these books are great to teach young learners history. they are fun and easy to read, and often have great, entertaining pictures. They are well crafted and tell a story that young readers and listeners can understand. I've read many of these books and I highly recommend them.

This book should come with a warning. It talks about alcohol consumption, prohibition, and Dr. Suess writing a book with naked ladies.

I bought this book for my 9 year old son and it's a great read! He enjoyed the information provided and the fact that it was an easy read.

It is about a FBI money-laundering case involving a Mexican drug cartel and quarter horses.This book generally provides a kinda-overview of the case, some brief details into the lives of the main players – with an extra emphasis on one of the FBI agents – and a decent overview of the history of the Mexican drug cartels.I think this book would have been improved had it just gone all out and framed the narrative as a thriller or procedural, strictly sticking to the point-of-view of the main FBI agent.Without a strict narrative focus as a thriller or procedural, it needed to present a ton of detail – or tie this episode into a detailed, broader historical or social context – in order to be something special. As written, the book only scratches the surface of many of the topics it brings up: cartels, money laundering, horse racing, civil asset forfeiture, life on the border, federal inter-agency squabbling, bureaucratic inefficiency. It provides highlights, but it never really goes deep into the weeds. For example, it airs some of frustrations of the FBI agent with the obstacles presented by other agencies who want the investigation to have a different focus, but it never provides any justification or explanation for why the FBI case should have been the priority.Basically, this book is just another non-fiction book written like a whole bunch of other non-fiction books: take a generally unusual or interesting “anecdote” of a story (drug cartels were buying American race horses, of all the things! and the FBI agent investigating it is from Tennessee! That’s far from Mexico!), splash some office conflict/gossip that is presumably generally favorable to the author’s sources (can you believe the DEA wanted to use the FBI’s source for something else!?), throw in some titillating details (kidnapping!), then call it a day and wait for a movie deal.Ultimately, though, it’s a readable story (that could be made into a better movie) that wouldn’t be a bad read on an airplane or to kill a few hours. It’s not baaaad….it’s just not good.

It took some time to understand some of the terminology, but I found the book easy to understand the horrors of the way people had to live. I could feel the anxiety myself. It was like walking beside Agents Lawson and Perez! Knowing someone you worked with has been to Hell and back and lived in fear for his life, but continued to fight the good fight is amazing. Thank you for bringing the story to us!

Author Melissa Del Bosque takes the reader on a roller coaster ride with unimaginable twists and turns through the Mexican drug cartel underworld, the quarter horse racing industry, and the US criminal justice system. An investigative journalist, Del Bosque dedicates her book to the Mexican journalists killed in their line of duty and to those journalists who now live in exile or who seek asylum in the United States.

I absolutely loved this book. After reading The Cartel and The Power of the Dog from Don Winslow I've been interested in the Mexican cartel. Ms del Bosque did a fantastic job with her in-depth research and story-telling. Reads like fiction, and I honestly couldn't put it down.

This was a great and terrifying look at how the cartels launder money, and try to hide everything from the law. It's a scary look at the world of horse racing, and how corrupt quarter horse racing really is. The good guys win in the end, but it's scary to think about how big the cartels are and how they are trying to control things.

The writing flowed like a fictional thriller but knowing that it wasn't fiction added that deep sense of horror in how much fear and pain has gone into the state of affairs in Mexico. More horrifying is the gripping awareness of how much of the fault lies on the other side of the border - where American lust for money drives the drug trade, the arms trade and the demoralization of what should be our sister nation. This is journalism at its finest.

Fascinating look into the lengthy process of discovering potential crimes and then working undercover to develop the facts required to prosecute the criminals. The view from the law enforcement side is gnarly - one can only imagine how the world looks from the criminal side.
