I purchased the Give Thanks journal after first reading the author’s book “The Gratitude Jar.” I was inspired by the author’s message of living with gratitude each day and found surprising success in my initial gratitude practice. It was certainly easier on some days than others but I was comforted and encouraged by the her conversational tone and message that there was no one right way to bring gratitude into your life. Reading “The Gratitude Jar” felt like having a conversation with my best friend over a cup of tea. And I have found the same in this companion journal.While this book is a perfect extension to the author’s original work, it can certainly stand on its own. I am currently in the middle of my first 30-day journaling cycle since purchasing this book and have already experienced a positive change in mindset. My brother and I decided to work through these 30 days together focusing on work and balance in our lives. Like many people we have challenging jobs that can generate a lot of stress and self-doubt at times. Because we live far apart we often call one another to vent and clear our heads after a particularly challenging day. We decided to work through the first 30 days of our journal at the same time and to call one another for a few minutes each day to share our gratitudes. Even though we are still very much in the middle of this process, we have each seen positive changes in our outlook already. I have found that in changing my mindset to looking for something to be grateful for each day I see the day in a different way. Instead of focusing on the challenges or frustrations of the day, I find myself sifting past them to look for the parts of the day that were successful. It can be so easy to fall into a negative view of a situation and then get stuck focusing only on the things that will further that view. But by instead intentionally focusing more on positive moments, events or interactions I find myself starting each day with a clearer mind. My brother has experienced a similar effect. And the added bonus of a daily check in to review our gratitude entries has given us something special to look forward to and to share together.I have ordered several copies of this journal as gifts for friends and family this holiday season. And I look forward to hearing their stories as they go on their own journeys with gratitude. I highly recommend this journal. Whether you work through it individually or with a friend/loved one, I think you will be very happy with the joy it brings to your life!

This journal is strikingly beautiful and thoughtfully written. Whenever I feel the creeping thoughts of anxiety or depression, I know it’s time to grab my journal and choose a gratitude practice. Every. Single. Time I have used one of the practices in this book, I felt better, attracted tons of positive outcomes to me, and felt the magic back in my life.

I purchased this journal after hearing Josie speak, and now it is part of our nightly ritual with our family. My children love to think about what they are grateful for, and are really proud of the lists they make each day. The Give Thanks journal has inspired such wonderful conversations in our house about gratitude. It is the perfect gift, too!
