"Remember Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band is The Beatles." Ad in New Musical Express, June, 1967. "Sgt Pepper contains words and ideas which are far above anything anyone else is capable of creating." Fan comment."The title song is the only one I really like. It's The Beatles we used to know before they went stark raving mad and started to write rubbish." Fan comment.Inextricably tied to the Summer of Love, I still remember hearing the "Sgt. Pepper's..." album coming out of windows as I walked through my neighborhood as a teenager. This book is a good summation of the album's impact on people, brought to light by incorporating fan's perspectives and quite a few photos (some you've seen, others not) and other ephemera (like a full page repro of the newspaper New Musical Express with the quote above) from that era. Of the Beatles/Sgt. Pepper's books recently published I've read, Spizer's gets closest to that whole "Beatles/Sgt. Pepper's experience" through combining facts about the album and the personal remembrances of fans. Plus his usual good selection of period reproductions (like the Asia Edition of Life Magazine from June, 1967, the Sizzle Sheet from Capitol Records, "Artifacts From the Summer of Love, etc.) which are as important as the text in getting a better picture of "back then".The book is laid out in logical sections, like influences on and of "Sgt. Pepper's...", an American perspective (written by Spizer), the Canadian reaction to the album, how pop music came to a crossroads in '67 (originally published in Beatlefan in 1997) which is a good overview of music in that period, plus sections on how the album was heard in Italy, Belgium, Germany, and behind the Iron Curtain ("...the discs were smuggled into the country."/"Just like a dream, I was holding a Beatles disc for the first time ever."). There's a chapter full of fan's quotations, each a paragraph or two long. Plus there's a reprint from Beatlefan, June '67 on the effect of the album as seen by fan Bill King which is also about other music/bands/hippies from the period. And when you include a section on the album packaging, a chapter titled "Recording History: Who Did What?" which looks at each track in some detail, plus a chapter incorporating bands making music at that time like the Airplane, Monkees, the Mothers of Invention, Yes, and other groups that help put "Sgt. Pepper's..." in perspective, this is a pretty well rounded look at this album. Plus, a piece on the identity of the army soldier pictured in the insert artwork--with photos of proof.The text, like Spizer's other Beatles books, is both interesting and informative. The reproductions are nicely done--clean and bright. There's a number of books on the Beatles/"Sgt. Pepper's...", some that also incorporate life in 1967. But Spizer has taken a different tack and included many fan's reminiscences about the impact the album had on them and their friends. Great writing by Spizer and others, and some personal fan remembrances, and packed with a good cross section of photos, ads, album covers, record charts, and other ephemera, this book will either take you back to those times or give you some idea of what it was like in 1967.

I never get tired of hearing, seeing or reading anything associated with this album, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. I've also collected a good number of Bruce Spizer books as well as having caught a good number of his appearances at Beatlefest over the years. Forget your Geoffrey Guiliano tell-alls, Spizer knows what he's doing. I've always been amazed at the extent of his research behind the making and release of the Beatles catalogue, and this book is no exception.It's a coffee table book like the others, but not as cumbersome. You might be able to read this on the train into work (and I have). It boasts a great selection of photos, especially out takes from the gatefold and front cover photo sessions. I wish some of these cutting-room poses actually made it onto the cover art. It's amazing that Spizer not only goes to the nth degree as a fan, but then turns around and shares it with all the other fans.Speaking of other fans, the inclusion of personal stories of fans regarding their Sgt Pepper experience is a real highlight of this book, and the point of this book. The moment I got this in the mail, I went straight to the fans' section and saw he also included an anecdote I'd submitted. I bought a 1973 Apple reissue for less than five bucks at a department store and enjoyed turning the balance switch left and right to hear individual sounds. How much do you think a sealed Apple reissue would go for today?

When I was a college student, I often used old tests as a study aid to prepare for examinations. This also held true when I was a law student. Now that I am teaching paralegal studies, I am the person who has to come up with the questions. I had been used to long essay questions in law school, but those proved to be inappropriate for paralegal students. Paralegal students tend to favor true false and multiple choice questions, which are really difficult to write.There is a certain logic in how examinations are prepared by instructors and professors, and Seigel's Wills and Trusts provides some insight into how they are prepared. I was able to have some guidance in preparing exams through the use of this book. For the student, this book is good in that it covers the basic concepts. I am not saying that your instructor will use this book to prepare his exams, but through the study of this book you should be able to have sufficient an understanding of the topic material and how it is presented in an examination to prepare well for the exams given at the end of a course.

This is not an aid to teach you the material (Emanuel's) but is a great study aid to practice and sharpen your knowledge for an exam. I found the multiple choice questions a great and quick way to review. The E&E does not provide helpful short answer questions like this supplement does. It could use more questions, and be expanded, but is a good way to prepare for your Wills/Trusts/Estates exam.

I like the Siegels series because they offer essay questions with full answers. This book was exactly what I expected. With 20+ essays and over 100 multiple choice questions, this was a good study aid.

The quality of a kindle edition is absolutely awful. The multiple-choice questions and answers are not shown in full. Nor the direct reference from questions to answers is available. I wish I had a hard copy before my exam but now it's too late to regret

This was the best part of my entire wills and trusts class, lots of examples and problems to work through.

Kindle Version does not display correctly on Kindle Reader for PC. The pages seemed chopped at the margins and the missing text is sufficient that it's difficult to see the Question numbers and letters (A, B, C or D) in the multiple choice section. Efforts to contact Amazon customer service did not fix the problem and was pretty much a waste of time. However, the book appears fine in Kindle Touch, iPad 2 and in the Cloud Reader. Another Siegel's study guide that I have works just fine for the Kindle Reader for PC.

Love this book- the MR questions were really similar to those on my final. For the questions I missed, the explanations really cleared up my lapses in application. I cannot imagine better material for review.

If you prepare for law school exams by doing problems, as I do, this is a great series of books to use. It doesn't have any black-letter law summaries, so don't expect it to teach you the material, but what it does have are great, detailed issue-spotter problems -- the kind your professors will most likely be asking you to answer on their exams. Even better, it has full essay answers to the problems, so you'll be able to read an "A"-type answer written by a law professor and learn how yours differs from that. I used Siegel's as often as I could during law school and was able to beat the curve more often using their products than anyone else's.

I found this book when I was searching for baby memory and scrapbook ideas. As soon as I saw it I purchased it. My child is very funny and says the craziest and funniest things, as most kids do. This book is a great way to remember all the funny and wild things they say when they are young. The pages in the book allow you to write who, when, where , and what they said. I attached a few pictures so you can get a better idea of the book.

Love this and will cherish it for years to come. Hope my son enjoys reading someday as well. I wasn't sure what the difference between the "paperback" and "diary" was considering I saw a separate more expensive "hardcover" listing of this same book on amazon as well. Ordered the diary which IS hardcover and has a ribbon to keep your place in the book, it's perfect!

I wrote down many of the things my children said when they were growing up. I saw this book and decided to purchase it for my daughter-in-law. It has a hard cover and the cover can be easily wiped clean if necessary. The pages have plenty of room to write on. It asks for the date and which child said what you want to document.I purchased a second book to keep on hand for a gift for a new mom. I am extremely pleased with my purchase.

Thank God someone had this idea. I love the randomness and wild imagination that my son has so I want to make sure I can look back on the funny stuff he said when he was little. The design is simple and cute and has blanks on every page where you can record the age, place and where they were along with a big bubble to fill in their memorable quote. I loved it so much that I have bought it for other parents and friends who are expecting a child and will probably continue to buy it!

I used to keep a little box with notecards in it with all the funny things my kids would say, but it was so overwhelming this puts everything in one place. It has little bubbles that you writer in which hinders your ability to write the entire circumstance of the quote. You lose a lot of space on the page to these little bubbles. I wish they didn't have those because sometimes the circumstances surrounding why your child that said something makes it even funnier. I think because I had just now in the book form I will keep up with it more often than I did but I filed parts and filing box I wish they would've had something like this with my children were little bit smaller I would've used it right from the start. This would make a great baby shower gift even though the mother to be will not use it right away when she does start using that she will really cherish it. Perhaps purchasing it and writing an inscription in the front of the book about how many things are children will say that are funny as they grow up would certainly add value to this gift.

Absolutly Love this book!!!!! I purchased one for each child. The book itself is hardcover and a tad bit bigger then my hand. The first page has a pocket for your child's picture. All of the other pages have a line for the childs name, age, place, and time the quote was taken. Then there is a section for the story or quote. There are a couple different layouts for the pages, but they are all complimentary and give roughly the same amount of space. I have not counted the pages, but it looks to be about 200 pages. There is also a built in book mark on the top so you can easily find your place. I am so happy with this purchase. It is even better than I could have imagined!!

I love this book! I received one for a gift years ago and use it all the time to write down the funny and cute things they say. My boys love looking back and reading what they did and said from when they were younger. I recently purchased 2 books for my two best friends little one's 1st birthday gift.I would strongly recommend getting this item as you think you may always remember what your kids will say and do but sadly you forget some of them...but with this book you have everything documented.

I love the idea of this book, and hope I really do make the time to use it. I am forever laughing at things my kids say, or feeling truly touched by something sweet and tender that they come out with, or proud to hear them say something great. I always think that I would never forget these sorts of things that they say, but only 7 years into motherhood, I am here to tell you that I am already forgetting some of the things that I remember thinking at the time I'd never forget! It has been so sad for me to try to think back to some of these things, only to realize that I have forgotten them. Once forgotten, I fear that I will never recover them. I thought about just getting a notebook, but never seem to get around to it, and then there's no organization to it. This book allows you to write the quote, date, person quoted, etc, all in a neat little space well designed. There are shorter spaces and spaces for longer quotes. I sincerely hope to make use of this over this coming year because my kids are growing up so fast and I don't want to forget all of these things I hear them say.

Inspiring! It's mysterious to me why more gardeners don't use edibles alongside their flowers. It happened in my garden by accident when some parsley seeds took residence in one of my beds. I was surprised at what a pretty filler it was along with the added bonus of always having a fresh supply of parsley. Of course, not using any chemicals that are harmful to food (and humans) is required. There are plenty of natural and organic products out there now that we should all be switching to, edible or not.I'll stay off my "NO Round-Up" soap box but urge all gardeners to educate themselves and pay attention to what we are using. That said, mix up the flowers and veggies. Why not!

Lovely designs for edible landscaping, but many ideas are not applicable to a subtropical climate. I am in zone 9, and a number of plants suggested would never make it here. If you live in a bit cooler zones, probably up to zone 8, this book is a better fit. Despite this, I did find many good suggestions for design and it was very well written.

Ms. Bennett shows that an edible landscape can not only be beautiful, but it can provide a significant amount of food. Food that you KNOW. You know if pesticides were used. You know if the seed was GMO. You know enough to have confidence in what you are eating. Something I believe we are missing at the grocery store. Very beneficial.

Very nice gardening book with pictures on almost every page which can be expanded on the Kindle fire this is a very Fire friendly ebook as well as having a wide range of beautiful edible garden ideas.

This book is more that informational--it is a landscape design 101 course. The authors are obviously skilled designers with vast knowledge of what works where. They also have the ability to communicate this in a way that anyone can understand. This is an important book, because you learn that you can incorporate edibles with your ornamentals for an aesthetically pleasing garden, as well as a useful one. There are also loads of beautiful photos and resource lists. Thanks for such a great resource!

I volunteer for a food bank garden and this book has given me even more great ideas to share with the food bank clients as well as for use in my own kitchen.

Man oh man, I wish I had a book like this when I was younger. I grew up in a family that did not accept quiet people. I was always the odd one out, as I preferred a calm and soothing environment to read or think by myself. I hated that the TV was on all the time, that people seemed to be shouting and arguing instead of talking and listening, and, especially, that I was constantly criticized for being too sensitive, too shy, and too reclusive.I, of course, enjoyed reading Susan Cain's first book, Quiet, but I love that she decided to write another book aimed at a younger audience. I know my childhood experience of being shamed for being "too quiet" isn't unique. And the judgments you absorb as a child stay with you--sometimes for a lifetime, unfortunately. As a kid, I think I would have given anything to hear someone say that it was okay to, well, be me. And that is what this book gives: acceptance. There is no extrovert-bashing in here (quite the opposite, actually), but the book IS a gentle celebration of all people who prefer to approach life in a slightly more calm and deliberate way.Quiet Power is divided into four sections: School, Socializing, Hobbies, and Home. Each section has several chapters, all pertaining to the main subject of the section. Cain gives a lot of good, practical advice, but she's never pushy or judgmental. Some of my favorite takeaways from this book:(*) Introverts are good listeners, and they are very focused. This tends to make them good leaders.(*) Find tactics that help you reduce social anxiety: speak up first; speak up last; or sit up front so you don't have to see others watching you.(*) Pursue causes you are passionate about, since passion tends to override fear.(*) It's okay to build your alliances slowly and steadily.(*) You don't grow out of being shy, you grow into it.(*) Stretch yourself beyond your comfort zone, but only so far; on a scale of 1 - 10, your anxiety level should be around 5 - 6.(*) If your kid loves school, but tends to come home and immediately have a meltdown, it might be because she is exhausted by being "on" for the past several hours. Make sure your kid has time to unwind and recharge after big activities. (Um, this was life-changing for our household.)One of the best things about this book is that all this advice isn't delivered via a lecture; it's demonstrated through personal stories. Most of the stories come from introverted kids (in middle school through college), but there are some stories from famous adults, as well (e.g., Gandhi, Beyonce, Steve Wozniak, Bill Gates, Eleanor Roosevelt, etc.). All of these people experience different levels of introversion. Some are straight up loners; others become class president. There is a lot of variety, which means just about any introvert is going to be able to read this book and find something useful.Ultimately, Quiet Power is a practical and uplifting resource for introverted kids--and I think it's a helpful book for adults, too, whether you are introverted or not. It can be so hurtful to not be accepted as a kid, and I think it is worthwhile for adults to understand that quiet kids aren't weird or broken. They have their own unique way of experiencing the world and expressing themselves, but they add so much to the conversation. We just need to close our mouths, open our ears, and listen.

If I could stand on the rooftops and shout like an extrovert to the parent of every introverted preteen and teen, I would say read this book, then give it to your kid! It's that significant. This book is the sequel I've been looking for to parenting an introverted child. (If your child is between 3-10, start with "The Hidden Advantages of the Introverted Child.") Quiet Power offers practical and innovative ideas to teens in their language about understanding themselves and how to find solutions to difficult or tiring social interactions without standing out like a sore thumb or alienating friends. It helps them figure out how to conserve energy for long school days and absorb teachers' instructions. Overall, it empowers them to take these tough adolescent years and thrive, celebrating who they are as individuals and some of the finest people on the planet.

I purchased this for my classroom with one particular student in mind. Once it arrived, I placed it with a post-it note on his desk to share that I thought he would like it. He gobbled it up in a matter of a day or two, then came up to me with the book in hand and told me it was an amazing book. He even went on to tell me all he learned from it. It made my day as a teacher! I know this will help other students in the future.

Because introverts process EVERYTHING and the constant empty chatter of daily life is exhausting to them. They are deep thinkers who cannot survive the surface noise of daily life - they need quiet and calm to re-energise and process their thoughts.They don't need to go to a party with rooms of loud, excited people; their party is constantly in their heads. They need to be able to live their lives their way, free of the extroverts constantly trying to drag them along on noisy extroverted lives.Give them this book; let them make their own worlds.Note: this is the kids/teens version of the author's adult non-fiction book called "Quiet".

One fantastic book. If you've got a kid that's introverted, please get this book and read it, especially if you're an extrovert. My husband is an extrovert and worried endlessly about our son, who is an introvert. I'm an introvert but have learned how to cope and step outside that zone at times, so I assured my husband our kid was fine. Then, I read this book and have shared it with many teacher friends. It shaped my practice as a teacher, and I now find myself allowing students to work independently before moving into a group. I've also used some of the information in the book, like employers prefer introverts for upper management because they listen and cogitate more, rarely raising their voice. Tell that to the kid who's an attention seeker, and the volume drops dramatically. Brilliant book about quiet but brilliant people.

My daughter is nine years old and I bought it for her. Well, she never reads anything I present to her, so I left it around the house. For the past month I've consistently found it in her school backpack, and recently she admitted she has read it several times now. Guess I should read it myself now!

I recommend this book ALL the time. If you are an introvert, married to an introvert or have children who are introverts, this is a MUST read. Warning for those of us who are extroverts however, she is a little bitter towards the way our society celebrates and promotes us.

Good story

This book was something that stirred alot of things inside of me. I was so awestruck, that I did what I have never done with any other author and that was write a letter. The best way to tell my review is to share part of the letter so here goes. Soul searchind is something most of us do at one time or another. Looking for the meaning of life, why we are here? Etc, etc. Sometimes we indulge in our sorrow so much that we forget to see that life is beautiful. So beautiful like our first love, our only love or the love of our lives. How familiar I find the feelings you describe of trying to be cool and the best of friends with your dad. Remembering your mother and the softness, tranquility and peace of mind you can only find in a mother's arms. The elated feeling you had when Trina was your girlfriend Your sense of being a true gentleman, treating her like your secret treasure. The flood that washed over you when she was lost to another man. Damn!!! That tore open an old wound. The author made me feel his pain, his joy to a lesser degree because nothing can compare to living the actual events. The memoir translated into Spanish in no way lost its power whats more there are certain things that can double the impact spoken in the tongue of Cervantes.
